Paint the Town Policies
Overview

Please take a few minutes to review our event policies.

The following policies are intended to create a safe and pleasant environment for all. Spouses, partners, significant others, friends, and allies are all welcome to attend, but it is the responsibility of the registered attendee to ensure their guests adhere to the policies. Violation of any policy could result in being disinvited to a specific activity, the overall event, and/or future events as well as being removed from the social media chat groups. Decisions of the planning committee with regard to policy violations are considered final.

Code of Conduct

Public Conduct: It is expected that all attendees will be respectful of others attending the event as well as the wider community. Please be the best “you” you can be. We will visit a variety of general public venues, including, but not limited to, hotels, restaurants, clubs, bars, theatres, and museums. These venues are open to the general public and no activity will be exclusive to our group. Behavior and attire commensurate with the various venues is expected.

Political and Sexual DiscoursePaint the Town welcomes all individuals under the transgender umbrella. To maintain such openness, we strongly discourage any and all discussions of politics, religion or sex. This policy will be strictly enforced within the chat groups. The posting of political memes or sexually explicit pictures will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from the chat groups.

Interpersonal Conduct: It is recognized that not all individuals will get along. If there are any personality clashes, please remember that de-escalation of the situation is in the best interest of all involved. In addition, as a baseline one should assume that all attendees are looking for purely platonic relationships. What happens between consenting adults is fine, but unsolicited pursuits, either in person or online, are strongly discouraged.

Safety Measures

The organizers of Paint the Town hold participant safety paramount. While we are living through a renaissance of acceptance for gender diverse individuals, this acceptance has also generated some backlash. As such, the Paint the Town registration process will include a certain level of “vetting” to ensure each attendee is a member of the gender diverse community. In most cases, it will be sufficient to provide social media links. If these do not contain sufficient unaltered images, the organizers reserve the right to request such images through private direct message or email. If asked for further verification, please do not consider it as gatekeeping, but simply in the interest of event safety.

As an additional safety measure, the detailed activity schedule will not be posted publicly and links to the schedule will only be distributed through our social media chat groups, which should only accessible to registrants. If registered, we ask that you do not share the activity schedule links with anyone who is not part of the chat group - i.e., these links should only be available to those who are registered. Of course, these links can be made available to guests of registrants.

Picture Policy

Attendees should expect that pictures will be taken at any and all Paint the Town activities. Furthermore, attendees should expect pictures to be posted on social media and might be used for the promotion of future Paint the Town events.

If it is critical that your image is not to be shared publicly, then you should not attend Paint the Town.

Given these assumptions, we further ask that all attendees make an effort to respect the privacy of others. Before taking any pictures, please ask all subjects if they are comfortable with their picture being taken. Candid shots, without prior permission, are strongly discouraged. If anyone asks for a picture to be deleted, we expect the photographer will do so immediately and without question. However, given these precautions, it is ultimately the responsibility of each attendee to be aware of and manage their photographic representation at all Paint the Town activities. After the event, we expect to host an online space for all to share pictures. It is the responsibility of attendees to monitor this space and have the right to request deletion of any pictures that contain their image.

  Final Rule

Finally, the most important rule of Paint the Town is to HAVE FUN!!! Having fun, out in the mainstream, is the best way to boost confidence and build relationships, which is the entire reason Paint the Town exists.
